Last weekend hundreds of breweries convened at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver for the 31st annual Great American Beer Festival. Thousands of beers competed against each other in 84 different style categories to determine the best of the best. Our great state of Wyoming had 46 beers entered from breweries across the state, and nearly 20 percent of them brought home medals. One of the biggest surprises of the weekend was the success of Thai Me Up Brewery, the small nano-brewery located right here in Jackson. Thai Me Up took home two gold medals in two of the most competitive categories, American Style Strong Pale Ale and Imperial India Pale Ale, both of which had over 100 beers entered. TMU also won a silver medal in the Fruit Beer category and took first in a side competition called the Alpha King Challenge put on by Hop Union to make for a very successful weekend for this up and coming small brewery. Snake River Brewing of Jackson also took home two more medals to add to their expansive trophy case and Black Tooth Brewing’s Wagon Box Wheat continued its success after winning a gold at the World Beer Cup earlier this year.
